![]() ![]() This got me into some really bad situations few times when i thought i am really close to enemy and when clicked to take enemy down with my hidden blade Arno just drew sword and stealth was gone for good. You are an assassin, not a fighter.Īnyway what i don't like is impossibility to manually switch to hidden blade. Standing in place and killing platoon of 20 enemies without single scratch. What Ubi Montreal did with Connor aka "killdozer" was just stupid. Open conflict/combat was allways last instance in any pre-AC3 AC game. This game is about assassin whos priority is to take time and carefuly observe, infiltrate, avoiding any contact and exfiltrate mission area. No more just standing and holding parry and waiting to do counterattack finishing strike. ![]() What are your thoughts and comments community?Īs a fan of AC series i found combat in Unity back in its roots. ![]() Ubisoft did say they wanted a high emphasis on sneaking around and hiding and by nerfing the combat, I guess they got thier wish. So in closing Unity combat compared to previous titles really blows and makes it a chore to go through and I find myself simply avoiding it all together and intead rely on stealth killing. But In AC4 those were really rare for some reason and in Unity they are completey gone. In AC3 when two guys came at you at the same time you went into this awesome cinematic kill cam whereupon depending on what weapon you and the enemy have equiped or unarmed you did a variety of bad ass take downs It was just really cool to see. The Multikill Ability: Some may argue that this is an unnessecary and immersion breaking feature, but IMO the multikill was awesome. Utility weapon/item kills: In AC3 and AC4 upon guarding an incoming attack you could either gaurd and reset, counter, disarm OR if you have a utlity item like a gun, bomb, rope dart ect, you could use it after gaurding and really gave you more options in battle. ![]() JOY! But in Unity, you mean to tell me that Master Assassin Arno can't even throw a single punch? What kind of assassin goes around with no knowledge in the fundamentals of basic hand to hand? Being able to take one a platoon of Redcoats armed with swords, daggers, muskets and battle axes with MY BARE FREAKIN HANDS and effectively gaurd, counter, disarm and smash thier faces in with punches, kicks, takedowns, neck snaps, body slams, wall slams, knee strikes, elbow smashes, drop kicks and superman punches and MMA style uppercuts and leave a heap of agonized enemies was a feeling of ultimate bad-assery! And was overjoyed to see it return in AC4 with a couple of new animations. Call me silly but I LOVE hand to hand in AC series when it was overhauled to epicness in AC3. Hand to Hand Combat: In Unity, there is none. The Hidden Blade: I'll give Unity credit for some really cool hidden blade assassination animations but not being able to use it in combat?! The Hidden Blade is the iconic weapon of the assassin and Ezio Auditore, Connor, Aveline de Grandpre, Adewale, Haytham and Edward Kenway could fight effectively with the Hidden Blade in combat and pull off some of the best combo strings with it but Arno cant, is a really big dissapointment, why take away that ability? Especially when most people agree on the Hidden Blade being one of thier favorite weapons to use in combat. In Unity I feel like a drunken ape swinging around a 500 pound stick, and gives the impression that Arno is no where near the expert swordsman comapred to Edward and Connor. In AC3 and 4 combat was much faster and you felt like the fleet and agile assassin that you were ment to be. It feels like you're fighting in a sea of molasses, with these awful delays in action between button presses. Sword, Axe and Hidden Blade, with being able to switch in mid-combat which was cool, if you just want to switch up the pace.Ĭombat speed: Unity lets face it, is sluggish as all hell. In AC3 you could carry a primary, secondary and third weapon. In Unity you are restricted to one weapon only. Its slow, clunky and limited and compared to its predecessor AC3 and AC4 its really feels like a step backward. I dont know about the rest of you guys but I absolutely hate the so-called "refined" combat in this mess of a game. ![]()
